  1. Prepare 1/2 kg ground beef, run twice through the grinder

  15. Get 1/2 cup oil
  16. Get pita breads for serving
Instructions to make Gyros in the baking tray:
  1. Knead the ground beef together with the onion, the baking powder, the parsley, the garlic, the tomato sauce or the grated tomatoes, the cumin powder, half the olive oil the salt and the pepper in a large bowl.
  2. You have to knead very well so that all the ingredients combine and the mixture gets fluffy.
  3. Brush a round baking tray with margarine and spread the ground beef mixture.
  4. Place the potatoes, peppers and tomatoes alternating in a star shape on top of that. The gyros shouldn't be more than 3 cm thick.
  5. Pour the rest of the olive oil on top, cover with greaseproof paper and bake in the oven for 40 minutes at 180°C.
  6. Cut the gyros while hot into triangular pieces and serve with the potatoes and the peppers on pita bread.
